Job Title: HSE Officer

1. Client Description

The organization is a leading global environmental and utility services provider specializing in large-scale water treatment and infrastructure solutions. They focus on delivering critical resource infrastructure and sustainable utilities management across Australia.

2. Scope

• Location: Field-ready role based on-site in Perth, WA (candidates must currently reside local with valid working rights).

• Project Scope: Water infrastructure development site.

• Role Purpose: Lead and enforce safety and environmental compliance, foster a proactive safety culture, minimize site risks, and ensure adherence to Western Australian WHS regulations and corporate safety standards.

3. Key Responsibilities

• Safety Inspections & Audits: Conduct daily site safety walks and routine audits to identify hazards, evaluate environmental impacts, and enforce corrective actions.

• Incident Investigation: Lead investigations into near-misses, injuries, and environmental incidents using root-cause analysis, reporting findings directly to leadership.

• Inductions & Training: Facilitate site safety inductions, lead daily pre-start meetings, and deliver toolbox talks regarding critical risks like confined spaces, chemical handling, and excavation safety.

• Compliance & Documentation: Maintain the project’s HSE management system, review subcontractor Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) and Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), and verify safety permits.

• Environmental Management: Monitor site environmental compliance, specifically managing dust control, waste management, and chemical storage in accordance with WA environmental regulations.

4. Qualifications

• Education: Certificate IV or Diploma in Work Health and Safety (WHS) or Occupational Health & Safety (OHS).

• 4+ years of dedicated HSE experience.

• Proven background on heavy civil construction, industrial plants, or water infrastructure sites.

• Certifications: Valid White Card, ICAM (or similar root-cause incident investigation training), and a valid First Aid certificate.

• Competencies: Deep understanding of Western Australia's WHS Act and regulations, along with strong communication skills to confidently influence safety behaviors on site.
