Chief Engineer (Tugs / Workboats) - LNG Project PNG (Expat)
Run the engine room of a project tug or workboat on a major LNG development in Papua New Guinea. Expatriate rotational contract, competitive package, flights and site logistics organised.
Keep a project fleet running where it matters most
Easy Skill is recruiting experienced Chief Engineers for the tug, workboat and barge fleet supporting a major LNG development in Papua New Guinea. Our client, an international project logistics contractor, is mobilising this fleet to move project cargo up-river to the construction site, and is looking for engineers who keep vessels available without a workshop next door. We are actively recruiting for these positions now.
Your role
As Chief Engineer, you own the engine room and the technical integrity of your vessel. You run the planned-maintenance system, keep medium-speed diesels, hydraulics and deck machinery in reliable condition, and rectify defects on site with limited shore support. Your vessel operates within an oil and gas assurance framework, so you maintain the standards expected of an OVID-inspected fleet and work hand in hand with the Master and the marine superintendent to keep cargo moving safely, rotation after rotation.
What you bring
A valid STCW III/2 or III/3 Engineer Certificate of Competency with current endorsements.
At least 8 years on tugs, OSVs, crew boats or workboats, including a minimum of 3 years as Chief Engineer.
Hands-on mastery of medium-speed diesels, hydraulics and deck machinery, and the ability to run a planned-maintenance system unsupported.
Proven self-sufficiency at remote sites: you diagnose and fix with what is on board. Trade skills in welding or fitting are a strong asset.
Experience on oil and gas or OVID-inspected fleets, fluent English, and medical fitness for remote rotational deployment.
Previous experience with a major LNG operator, on oil and gas or LNG marine and project-cargo operations, or in Papua New Guinea and the Pacific will place you at the top of our shortlist.
What we offer
An expatriate rotational contract on a flagship LNG project, with a competitive package aligned with international project standards.
Flights, accommodation and site logistics organised by the project; onboarding and visa support handled by Easy Skill's Port Moresby team.
A long construction phase with visibility on future rotations, and a client that gives its engineers the autonomy and the means to do the job properly.
