Project Manager - Large-Scale Solar
Project Manager – Large-Scale Solar Project (4-Month Contract, Nigeria)
Project Manager – Large-Scale Solar (Remote Site)
Role Overview
We are seeking a rugged, highly adaptable, and immediate-start Project Manager to oversee the construction and commissioning of a utility-scale solar installation in a highly remote, logistically challenging region of Nigeria.
This is a 4-month straight, on-site deployment with a strong possibility of extension based on project milestones and performance. The ideal candidate has a proven track record of delivering large-scale solar infrastructure under extreme environmental conditions and managing complex logistics with minimal local infrastructure.
Quick Facts & Contract Terms
Position: Senior Project Manager (Solar EPC)
Duration: 4 Months (Straight rotation, on-site) with a strong potential for extension
Location: Remote Project Site, Nigeria
Availability: Immediate Start Required (Targeting mobilization within 1–2 weeks)
Eligibility: Open to all nationalities (Expedite visa and emergency mobilization support provided)
Environment: Rough terrain, off-grid camp living conditions, high isolation
Key Responsibilities
1. Site & Construction Management
Lead daily on-site construction operations, ensuring civil, mechanical, and electrical installations align with engineering designs.
Enforce rigorous Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) protocols tailored to a high-risk, isolated environment.
Manage a diverse workforce consisting of international subcontractors and local community labor.
2. Logistics & Supply Chain Resilience
Oversee the receiving, inventory, and security of critical equipment (inverters, modules, mounting structures) arriving via challenging transport routes.
Develop contingency plans for material delays, equipment failures, or extreme weather disruptions.
3. Stakeholder & Community Relations
Act as the primary on-site representative to navigate local community dynamics, ensuring smooth daily operations.
Provide clear, data-driven daily and weekly progress updates to executive management and off-site stakeholders.
Required Experience & Qualifications
Solar Expertise: Minimum of 5+ years managing utility-scale solar projects (minimum 10MW+ capacity preferred).
Terrain & Environment: Proven history of working in Sub-Saharan Africa or similar highly remote, developing, or frontier markets. You must have prior experience living and working in isolated, containerized, or basic camp conditions.
Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) contracts, MV/HV substations, grid connections, and solar PV technology.
Leadership: Exceptional crisis management skills; able to make high-stakes decisions independently without immediate corporate backup.
Language: Full professional fluency in English is mandatory.
Working Conditions & Compensation
Note on Environment: This site is genuinely rugged. Living arrangements are practical, off-grid camp setups with satellite internet, power generators, and dedicated security. Temperatures can be extreme, and resources are limited. This role requires someone with high mental and physical stamina.
Rotation: 4 months continuously on-site (No mid-term leave due to project timelines).
Compensation: Highly competitive, tax-free expatriate day-rate or monthly contract fee (commensurate with the harsh nature of the deployment).
Coverage Provided: Full mobilization/demobilization flights, visa processing support, on-site secure accommodation, meals, comprehensive medical evacuation insurance, and dedicated site security.
