Civil / Structural Supervisors (PNG Nationals)
1. Client Description
The organization is a leading international infrastructure and industrial contractor executing high-profile energy, resource, and heavy civil construction developments globally. They specialize in managing large-scale project execution frameworks, driving strict on-site productivity, and maintaining high safety and quality standards on complex greenfield industrial sites.
2. Scope
Project Type: A major greenfield industrial construction project.
Location: Site-based in Papua New Guinea.
Hierarchy: Reports to the Construction Superintendent or Senior Project Engineer.
Primary Mandate: Provide frontline supervision of day-to-day civil and structural construction activities to ensure scopes are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
Nationality Requirement: This position is strictly open to Papua New Guinea (PNG) nationals.
3. Key Responsibilities
Frontline Field Supervision: Direct day-to-day civil and structural construction activities across multiple work fronts, including earthworks, reinforced concrete foundations, structural steel erection, roads, and drainage.
Contractor Management: Monitor contractor performance, manpower mobilization, equipment utilization, and on-site productivity.
Technical & Quality Compliance: Ensure all execution complies strictly with approved technical drawings, project specifications, and construction procedures.
Cross-Functional Coordination: Coordinate key project interfaces with engineering, quality/QA-QC, survey, and project controls teams to resolve field constraints.
Safety Leadership: Participate actively in daily planning meetings, mandatory toolbox talks, and routine field safety inspections to achieve safe execution.
Progress Tracking & Handover: Monitor milestone progress, provide regular construction update reports, and support punch list management through to final handover preparation.
4. Qualifications
Education: Hold a Trade qualification, Technical Diploma, or a relevant construction qualification. Qualifications in civil engineering or construction management are considered highly advantageous.
Essential Experience:
8 to 15 years of dedicated experience in industrial, mining, energy, LNG, infrastructure, or heavy civil construction projects.
Proven track record supervising bulk earthworks, reinforced concrete structures, structural steel erection, industrial buildings, roads, and underground services.
Demonstrated experience managing contractors and subcontractors within remote, large-scale project environments.
Technical Skills: Deep understanding of civil and structural construction methodologies, heavy planning sequencing, and quality control/inspection demands.
Personal Attributes: Strong leadership and hands-on problem-solving abilities paired with a results-oriented mindset to achieve planned construction milestones.
