Mechanical Supervisor (Offshore Piping)

Location: Offshore, Angola (Block 15, 17, or 32)

Rotation: Typically 28/28 or 35/35

Contract Type: Project-Based / Contract

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Supervisor to lead the execution of complex piping installations and mechanical outfitting for our offshore assets in Angola. This role is pivotal in ensuring that all piping systems—including high-pressure process lines, water injection, and utility piping—are installed, tested, and commissioned safely, on schedule, and in strict accordance with international standards (ASME/API) and local Angolan regulations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Technical Oversight & Execution

• Supervise the fabrication, fit-up, and installation of offshore piping systems (Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel, Duplex, and GRE).

• Interpret and implement P&IDs, Isometrics, and General Arrangement (GA) drawings.

• Oversee mechanical completion activities, including flange management, bolt torquing/tensioning, and valve installations.

• Coordinate Hydrostatic and Pneumatic pressure testing sequences and ensure all test packs are certified.

2. Team Leadership & Contractor Management

• Manage a multi-disciplinary team of pipefitters, welders, and riggers.

• Monitor daily progress against the project schedule, identifying bottlenecks and implementing recovery plans.

• Coordinate with the Welding Inspector (QC) to ensure all welds meet NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) requirements.

3. Safety & Compliance

• Enforce a "Zero Harm" culture, ensuring all "Permit to Work" (PTW) protocols and Job Safety Analyses (JSA) are strictly followed.

• Ensure compliance with Angolan Content laws, mentoring and developing the local Angolan workforce.

• Manage onsite materials and equipment, ensuring tools are calibrated and certified for offshore use.

4. Required Qualifications and Skills

• Education: Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical certification.

• Experience: Minimum 8–10 years in offshore oil and gas, with at least 5 years in a supervisory capacity.

• Project History: Proven track record in Heavy Fabrication of Platform / Jackets and the like in piping brownfield/greenfield projects.

• Certifications: BOSIET/FOET (OPITO approved), HUET, and valid International Passport.

• Technical Skills: Deep knowledge of ASME B31.3, API 570, and offshore lifting/rigging standards.

Preferred Skills

• Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory; proficiency in Portuguese is a significant advantage for communicating with local teams and authorities.

• Software: Familiarity with Navisworks or similar 3D model review software.

• Attributes: Strong problem-solving skills under the high-pressure environment of offshore rotations.

Work Environment

• This role is based offshore in the Atlantic Ocean, off the coast of Angola.

• Expect high-temperature environments, maritime weather conditions, and living in confined quarters (offshore accommodation).

• Must be comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces.
